  • Run a compare using a filter against numeric file names, selecting a certain range?

I have a bunch of files in a directory across several layers of subfolders. Files are named like file00001 through file05874. I need a certain range of those files copied to another directory along with the folder structure. The desired result would be that files named file00099 though file named file003485 will be copied over. Is there a way to accomplish this?

You can do this with file masks in name filters.

In name filters, placing characters in brackets matches on any single character in a range.

As an example [0-9] matches on any single numeric character.

Reference - Beyond Compare 4 help - File Masks: https://www.scootersoftware.com/v4he...ile_masks.html

To match on file00099 through file03485, click the Filters toolbar button, then enter the following filters in Include Files:

    file00099.*
    file00[1-9][0-9][0-9].*
    file0[1-2][0-9][0-9][0-9].*
    file03[0-3][0-9][0-9].*
    file034[0-7][0-9].*
    file0348[0-5].*
