  • unimportant differences

    Hi there,
I've a question concerning Folder Compare.
How can I set a difference of files, stored in different folders as "Unimportant difference"?
I want to have the same behaviour as when you modify comments in c++ files.
How is that made i c++ files, is there a script or something?

    For example:
    The files contain:
    ... id='_032327B8' ...

everytime I save the file, all ids are newly generated. The file is full of ids, so in File Comparison almost all was red.
I made a regular expression, so now all is blue
by the way, is there a possibility to remove the blue color?

So all id changes are unimportant an therfore should be displayed as unimportant.

It sounds like you are almost there. Once you have your text ID defined as unimportant and blue, you can hide those differences in the text view using the toolbar button Ignore Unimportant Differences. Detailed here:

You can then use these results in the Folder Compare by running a Rules-based comparison, and then using the same toggle to hide files with only blue/unimportant differences. The content comparison results are shown in the center column of files (not folders) once found.
Details on default vs Rules-based comparisons can be found here:
