    11626 Size of selected folders

How best to get BC to tell me the total size of the folders (and files within) selected?

    Else displayed?

I don't see this info in status bar, Folder Compare info or Folder Compare Report, but can get it from Copy to Folder.

    Thanks.

    Hello Chris,

You can issue an Open Subfolders command on your selected folder (or Expand All then Collapse all) to get the total size of the expanded items.

Or you can set the Session Settings to Automatically scan subfolders in background, and also enable Automatically scan top-level orphan subfolders.

Or you can right click a folder, go to Explorer -> Properties.

Thanks, but those apply only to a single folder - I was asking about folders plural.

        Hi Chris,

There isn't a command that will list the size of multiple selected folders in BC. As a workaround you can select folders, then use the "Explorer > Properties" command to have Windows Explorer display the size.

I regularly need this information, too. As the most handy solution I select the folders I'm interested in at one folder pane and then I use the Compare Content command from the toolbar (the button with =?).

Here you get the total amount of files, folders and KBs. This might be similar the the copy to command mentioned in the first post.
After all amounts are calculated I press ESC to close the dialog again.

Now it comes to my mind again, that these dialogs are not continuesly counting while scanning the directories, the digits freeze after a few moments and get updated when the scan is completed. A little bit more of a progress indicator (increasing counters) would be very nice here.

          Bye
          Christoph

Ah, yes. I prefer that swifter solution to Chris's.

            Thanks Chris and Christophe.

PS My wish is for the status bar to provide this info, just as it does for files.

              Chris,

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll add this to our wish list.

              Christoph,

Thanks for sharing the "Compare Contents" solution.

Sorry, Christoph, this feature is not in the 3.3.0 beta, but is still on our wishlist.
