    And the problem is?

If you want hidden files to move, then check the "Include hidden items in operation" check box.

The error. I don't expect BC to try to remove a folder it hasn't emptied, nor to alarm the user when this fails.

      > If you want hidden files to move

      Thanks, but I don't - that's why I left that option unticked.

        This is working as intended.

As a user who has hidden their filters textbox, has not supressed filters, or otherwise does not know or remember they have filtered out results, there are some users who would then expect the Folder to be deleted on the Left side. This would have been the default BC2 behavior since selecting a Folder acted on all items regardless of filters.

Select the files inside of the folder instead of trying to Move or Delete the folder itself.

Providing no feedback would result in a user attempting to delete an 'empty' folder that would not go away until they realized they had filters enabled.

Perhaps an "informational" message instead of an error would be more appropriate...

            Thanks, we'll consider that.

Thanks, but the reason I used file filters is to avoid the need to make hundreds of file selections by hand.

My report is about Move, not Delete.

Indeed. The error's indication that the conditional move operation has failed is false.

Note: this can also give the error

Unable to delete [foldername]: The process cannot access the file [sic] because it is being used by another process
