What is the meaning of "(r)" after folder/file names?

I can't find anything in the help file or on line or in this forum to explain what it means when folders/files have a "(r)" after their name. Any help would be appreciated.

The (r) means the files have the read-only attribute set.

Possible file attributes are:
a - archive
r - read-only
h - hidden
s - system

By default, we show Name, Date, and Size columns in the main view. If you right click these column heads, you can also enable Attributes. This will pull out any (r) from the name column and place it in its own column.
