  • Returncode bc2.exe as batch

    Hi everybody,

    Is there a possibility to get a returncode from bc2.exe runing as batch, that displays information about the execution of file-report,
    e.g.:
    if it does not differ => rc=0
    if it differs => rc=1

    alternativly:
    is it possible, that file-report does not create a report
    if there is no difference, e.g. by deleting the report-file within the script if there is no difference ?

    our script is actually this:
    file-report layout:side-by-side options:display-all,line-numbers output-options:html-color output-to:%3 %1 %2

    and we execute it bc2.exe /silent @script.txt F1 F2 R.html

    Thanks a lot for any help.

    You may be out of luck. It has been stated in this forum that BC2.EXE, running as a GUI does not reliably return a return code.

    There is a command line quick compare version, but it does not support sessions. See http://www.scootersoftware.com/ubbthread...page=0#Post4064

      In addition to what Ernie says, you may be able to use "copyto" in a script to create a file that you can do an "exists" check for in your batch file. For instance, a zip file with all the files from the left side that are different.

      Snapshots might provide another way of letting your batch file know if changes were detected.
