  • Editing Disabled

    Hi

I am comparing two excel files in Beyond Compare and would like to be able to edit my baseline, however I see at the bottom of the window it says "Editing Disabled" also when I try to copy a row to the left or right it is not working.

I went to session settings and and the disable editing box is not marked.

Is there another step to enabling editing or copy rows left or right?

    Hello,

BC3 does not currently support editing Excel files. The issue is that the conversion we use (a VBScript that calls Excel) allows us to open the files for comparison, but Excel does not allow us to save back as an Excel .xls(x) format. Because of this, we can open but not edit the files since the save would not be in the correct format.

If you open your files in Excel first, and Save As a plain text format such as CSV, then you can open the CSV in BC3 and we will be able to perform edits, copies, etc.
