    File Viewer - Beginner's Question

    I

    1) Launch BC2 File Viewer
    2) On the left side drop-down list, select a file
    3) On the right side drop-down list, select a file

How using the mouse do I get the comparison?

    PS

    a) After 3), Swap Sides doesn't swap the files
    b) Swap Sides is missing from the Help index.

You can launch the comparison by clicking either of the Go buttons (look like arrows pointing right) next to where each file name is entered, on the right.

Swap sides currently swaps what is loaded in the panes. If you open 2 files, then select new file names, but do not click go, then click swap sides, it will swap the files that are currently open, and not the filenames that have been selected from the dropdown.

Thanks for noting something missing in the help file. Swap Sides is discussed under the Controlling the File Viewer Display section. I will see if we can make that a bit easier to find.

Thanks. How may I launch the comparison using the keyboard?

Thanks. Suggestion: may the behaviour consistent across the two states.

I think it would be better to simply put all commands in the Help index.

        Chris,

To load the comparison with the keyboard, hit the Enter key after you select the second file from the dropdown.

Thanks. I find also in 100% keyboard use one needs to hit enter also after typing the first filename, else tabbing to the second causes BC to wipe the first. I think this could be improved. The expectation and WIG is for a control to retain input on losing focus.

            I agree. We've improved this for BC3.
