  • BC2.5.1 "Just Matching Text" issue

"Just Matching Text" actually shows just matching lines, making it useless on views where line matches are no more than 99% of characters e.g.
    .

Is there any way to get it to work as captioned?

PS Suggestion: fix Help 'Controlling the File Viewer Display' topic's wrong captions for this and Show All.

    Re: BC2.5.1 \"Just Matching Text\" issue

We probably won't be changing the behavior of the option in BC2, but we will look into making its functionality more clear. I see in both your example screens you want to align on a particular line. The reason it is not aligning on this line is because line 5 is aligning to line 1 on the right. If this happens, then it will 'push' the other aspects down, and not align the way you would like.

Decrease your tolerance down to 10,50, or 100. This should stop line 5 and 1 from matching, which should then allow for other similar lines to match.

Sorry be unclear - I meant is there any way for the /user/ to get it to work as captioned - but evidently not. Thanks.

Please consider adding another option to give something nearer the captioned behaviour. Without at least a No Orphans option like the Folder Viewer, the File Viewer is really hard work for sparse-matched files.

Actually there is such an option after all - but hidden until you click View | Toolbars | Component.

Why not have it (and Composite) showing by default?

            Re: BC2.5.1 \"Just Matching Text\" issue

We show only Component or Composite because Component is a more advanced view that has almost all of the options of Composite.

Composite is the default because the average user only needs those common settings. An advanced user can just switch to Component and use the extra degree of control.
