Below is how I need to get the file to look:

You may notice I removed some UNIX / junk lines from the top of the email header and then moved the received from line to the top beginning of the file. Does anyone have any recommendations on how this can be done? If not with the BC program, then maybe something else? I have many files that this needs to be done to.

    Thank you!

Re: Beyond Compare Advice / Help

    Hi Mark,

Beyond Compare doesn't provide an automated way to edit file contents to remove specific lines or text.

If you want to compare two email messages like the two you listed, you can ignore the differences between the two files using Beyond Compare's file comparison rules.

To ignore differences in two text files, open them in Beyond Compare's File Viewer. Select Tools|Edit Current Rules. Go to the Importance tab. If you define new entries in the Unimportant Text section, it will ignore those differences in the file comparison. You can define unimportant differences by column, with delimiters, regular expressions, or you can ignore a number of lines at the top of each page.

Once you've marked text unimportant, it will show in blue if View|Ignore Unimportant Differences is turned off in the File Viewer. If it is turned on, the text will show as a match.

Once you configure a file comparison rule, Beyond Compare will also use it when comparing text in scripts.
