  • Binary compare flags a file with same time stamp

In trying to sort out the time stamp issue posted above, I did a little testing with different comparison criteria. I ran the following tests:

    1. Compare time stamps & compare contents (size alone):

It found 1 file in the main folder and 2 in a subfolder.

    2. Compare time stamps & compare contents (size & CRC):

It found the same 3 files plus a 4th file with identical size (65,536) and time stamp (about 2 hours ago, the last time I used that program).

    3. Same results comparing time stamps and binary.

The 4th file looks like some sort of ini file or place where the program logs flags. Is it possible that the program would write the file and intentionally preserve the time stamp?

I'm not sure why the program would preserve the timestamp but change the content, but if a CRC or binary comparison says the files are different, then they should have a content difference.
