Not exactly a BC question but I uncovered it with BC :-)

On XPSP2, when I copy a file to a USB drive I get a 2 millisecond time difference on the Last Modified time stamp using cmd, explorer or BC. I don't get this when I copy to another hard drive. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it?

    Re: millisecond differences

This is probably due to file system differences. Your hard drive is probably formatted NTFS, and the USB drive is probably formatted FAT. FAT doesn't offer as much timestamp precision so the timestamps change slightly when the files are copied.

BC's default settings in Session|Comparison Control give timestamp comparison a 2 second tolerance to handle the difference in timestamp precision.

Thanks Chris. You're right it is FAT and that's the source of the problem.
