  • Compare folders. Files same name, different ext.

I want to compare folders but the files have the same name but different extension. Is it possible?

    This is possible.

    Select Session|Comparison Control.
    Go to the Advanced tab.
    Check "Ignore file extensions".
If you already have a folder comparison loaded, you'll need to View|Full Refresh after making the change.

What about comparing a file to its backup to see changes?

I have the automatic backup feature set to add a "~" to the extension of a file when modifying it. So, if I change "MyFile.txt", BC will create a "MyFile.txt~" as the original copy.

How can I compare "MyFile.txt" to "MyFile.txt~"? That is, not comparing just one file at a time, but the entire tree structure to its archived files?

There isn't a way to compare all of the files at once using the current version of BC.

If you copy all the .txt files to one folder, and all the .txt~ files to another folder, it might work to check "Ignore File Extensions" in the Advanced tab of Session|Comparison Control.
