Speeding up two remote server transfers

I want to transfer 300,000 files from an old remote FTP server A to a new remote FTP server B using BC. The data is also held on a local machine with upload speeds of say 700k bps. Which will be faster: Uploading from a local CPU or using BC to transfer directly from A to B?

Does BC tell server A to send the data directly to B or does BC download data to the local machine and then upload to Server B?

Uploading from a local machine should be faster.

BC won't have the files go directly from server A to server B. They'll be copied to your local machine first.

Are you considering making it a feature that the workstation is just sending the commands and the files just transfer between the two remote servers?

Support for this is on our wish list. The protocol for this is called FXP. For more details on FXP, see SmartFTP's knowledgebase article.

          Hi guys,

Just wondering if there's been any progress with FXP. We use Beyond Compare between FTP a lot and it would be excellent if FXP was supported.

          Thank you!

            Hello,

Sorry, no new news yet. Which FTP server software are you using, and can you confirm it would support FXP transfers?

We use Beyond Compare for server to server transfers.

Beyond Compare is the FTP client software. We're interested in the FTP server software that is running on the servers (ProFTPD, Serv-U, vsftpd, IIS, etc).
