    Auto-Alignment using markers

    Hi,

I am using Beyond Compare to compare rather large output files of regression test executions.

In both output files, there is a marker like before the start every test step, followed by the output data of the step.

    Example
    ## Test Condition 001 - Step 127
    output data
    ...

    ## Test Condition 001 - Step 128
    output data
    ...

My problem is that in cases where the output data has big differences between two executions, Beyond Compare usually misaligns the two files.

What I am looking for is a way to automatically align the two output files using the markers in the output files.

    Any ideas?

    Re: Auto-Alignment using markers

You can try changing BC's alignment settings for this.

Open the Files in the File Viewer.
    Select Tools|Edit Current Rules.
    Go to the Alignment tab.
Assign the markers a weight in the Line Weights section.

For details on Line Weights, click Help in that dialog.

You can also manually for an alignment.
Right click on a line and select "Align Manually".
Right click on a line on the other side and select "Align Manually".
