    Hi

I am fairly new to this, I am trying to compare in 2 different folder if the files exist in both folder. My problem is I need to use a wild card because the file are version control (ie TG1ABC.txt TG2ABC.txt this should be considered the same file). The size of the file may also be different but they should be considered the same.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Re: new help

Beyond Compare will only compare files with matching filenames and folder structures relative to the loaded base folder.

In our latest release, it is possible to ignore differing file extensions by checking "Ignore File Extension" in the Advanced tab of Session|Comparison Control, but there isn't any way to make it automatically line up files with different filenames.

Depending on how your files are named, you might be able to use Actions|Rename to rename one side so the filenames match, compare the files, then use Actions|Rename to return them to the original filenames again.
