• Can't compare 2 files

Hi
I'm trying to compare this 2 files
1.txt
inksCommonPropertiesTopic 0 bidPIDCoeffEnabled 0
inksCommonPropertiesTopic 0 bidPIDCoeffEnabled 1
inksCommonPropertiesTopic 0 bidPIDCoeffEnabled 2
and
2.txt
inkParams 35 colorAdjustDDI 0
inkParams 35 colorAdjustDDV 0
inkParams 35 colorAdjustDodDi 0

They are tab delimited.
I expect BC to show that they are not equal, 3 lines added and 2 lines deleted.
but instead I got that they are the same 2 lines but were modified.
Do you have any idea?
thanks

Re: Can\'t compare 2 files

To have the File Viewer treat all changes as either inserts or deletes, select Tools | Edit Current Rules, select the Alignment tab, and enable the "Never Align Mismatches" option.

Re: Can\'t compare 2 files

Thanks
my files are log files and I need to compare if the value of each parameter has changed.
take a look at this 2 files
1.txt
inksCommonPropertiesTopic 0 bidPIDCoeffEnabled 0
inksCommonPropertiesTopic 0 bidPIDCoeffEnabled 1

and
2.txt
inksCommonPropertiesTopic 3 bidPIDCoeffEnabled 0
inkParams 35 colorAdjustDDI 0

I need the output to be:
At the first line - change
The 2 other lines are orphans
Meaning - 1 row modified, 1 deleted and 1 changed
Is it possible?
Thanks

Re: Can\'t compare 2 files

The best way to compare these files is probably using our Data Viewer plug-in.

Using the Data Viewer, you can mark the 1st and 3rd columns as key columns to get the results you're looking for.

You can download the Data Viewer from:
http://www.scootersoftware.com/download.php?c=v2plugins

Please note that plug-ins require a registered version of BC to run.
