Long hang sometimes when opening a new tab.

I noticed this quite often on BC3 as well.

I often have 10+ tabs open, one for each server. Server files could easily be much greater than 3,000-5,000 files each since each instance often has access to several websites.

When I open a new tab, it might open right away, but about 1 time in 4 it'll take 20+ seconds of busy pointer before I see anything. Are you doing garbage collection or other task before displaying the sessions list?

I doubt it's a PC problem, big hard drive and 16 gb ram.

    Hi Rick,

Does the hang occur when opening a new Home view tab or one of the viewer types? Also, is it opening a new tab, or replacing an existing one? BC doesn't use garbage collection; the most likely culprit is some sort of file system access that's taking longer than expected.

      Hi Craig,

It's always when opening a new "home" tab. I don't think I've ever had a delay with picture viewer.

I usually right-click on an existing tab to open a new one. When I tried it now, it took 15 seconds before I saw a list of sessions to open and I had 12 tabs open already. A minute later I right-clicked again, "new tab", and no delay.

I would think I'd have a LOT of temp files open with that many tabs, each tab with thousands of files, most via FTP, which I why I mentioned garbage collection.

        Hi Rick,

Are your FTP sessions still mid-compare? Do you notice a general lag if switching between already open tabs?

Which OS would you be running, and 32bit or 64bit (assumed 64)?

          Hi Aaron,

FTP sessions would not usually be comparing. Generally I refresh just a folder if I need to check something. Usually I copy a file to one server and the changed file shows up in 1 or 2 of the other tabs. Usually no need to completely refresh a server. (I love that feature.)

When I experienced it today, all FTP sessions should have timed-out and disconnected long before I opened a new tab. (Time-out = 2 minutes idle).

No lag when switching tabs, just sometimes when I open a new one.

          I'm running Win7 x64, i5, 16 gb, 1.8 TB-7200 rpm. If I have multiple VM's open and get a lag, it's generally a couple seconds, not > 15 seconds.

            Hi Rick,

I just emailed you with a build that had some debug information enabled in it to generate additional crash reports. Let us know if you have trouble receiving it.
