    unsorted alignments

The change log for Build 440 says:

    ---------------------------------
    26-October-2007 Build 440 release
    ---------------------------------
    - Data Compare
    - Added support for unsorted alignments.

Please explain what this enhancement is. I was hoping it meant I could compare unsorted csv files (a feature request I've made upon several occasions) but I still can't figure out how to make it happen.

Yes, it allows comparing unsorted CSV files.

After you load the files click the Umpire button to open the Rules dialog, switch to the "Columns" page, and check the "Unsorted alignment" checkbox.

The alignment is still done based on key fields, so you need to define at least one of those. It's also based on the "Alternate" alignment that the text compare has, so no closeness matching. I don't know if they're planning on changing either of those aspects.

      Unsorted Alignments

Awesome! The unsorted alignment option works great...and a nice implementation too. My suggestion was to allow a user to remove all key columns in order to prevent an unwanted sort. As usual, the Scooter team implemented a better solution. To simply leave the data unsorted and still have key columns is better yet. Thanks!
