Unhappy BC 64 bit

When might we expect a 64 bit version of BC that will run under Win7?

With the size of files expanding, I find I get "Not enough storage is available..........." many times.

I'm willing to pay a nominal amount for an upgrade of BC to 64 bit.

Thanks,
RON C

Thanks, Ron. Support for 64x is something we want to tackle as the tools become available to port Beyond Compare over to it. Once they are available, we will seriously be looking into it.

Our current max file test case stats are available here:

Aaron,

As an interim solution to handle long files, why not allow the user to specify the starting and ending byte for each file to do the compare (default to other files values). This would allow for comparing the long files I have as I need to look at only the first megabyte of data but the files are over 4 GB each. This would also work if I wished to compare the last megabyte of the files.

What tools are missing? I've been coding x64 for a while and find that VS2010 has most all I need. GCC is the same.

We're a small company and our developers are currently working on a few other large projects right now. Improving this is on our radar. Delphi only recently added the 64bit tools last year, and they are still having the kinks worked out.

I understand completely. My interim solution might buy a lot of time for limited effort. Might ven generate some sales.

Cheers,

Your suggestion is appreciated and a tactic we are considering. It's just that once we finish with our current projects it might indeed be time to start on 64bit. Neither is something we can start right now, but it's something we'll evaluate once we get there.
