I have checked all options on the default Session Settings, Importance tab. When I compare via the UI, tabs (i.e. tab characters) are highlighted when they are a difference.
When I do the compare via a script, I cannot figure out how to get the tabs to highlight when they are a difference. Would be grateful for any help! Thanks- Sam |

Hello,
If you setup the interactive session to show your files as you expect, you can save that as a session and load the session in script. Otherwise, you will need to set your defaults to use the same options, so that when the script loads and uses the defaults it will present the information as you expect. This includes Session Settings and Toolbar toggled buttons.

Thank Aaron - I tried using "load <default>", but that did not make a difference.
If I right click on the 2 files and compare them, the tab character is highlighted in red (which I suggest proves that the default session setting is configured to display tabs as important). Further examination leads me to the following conclusion: The session settings Importance Tab regarding "embedded white space is important" results in the offending tab character being highlighted in the Interactive Session at the bottom where the current line from each file is displayed. However, I am unable to get the tab to highlight when I then run a Text Compare Report using the Interactive Session - in which case, I would not expect it to display via script either. So my question is: am I doing something wrong, or is there a way to highlight the tab character in a Text Compare Report? I have attached 2 sample files, a screen shot showing the highlighted tabs, and the resulting Report generated via interactive session. |
