Default Picture compare unimportant differences

Hi:

I have 2 questions about determining unimportant differences when doing picture comparison:

Under picture compare options I have:
Same Pixels set to gray scale,
Different Pixels set to red,
Similar Pixels set to blue.

My first question is "What criteria determines that 2 pixels are similar versus different?"

Now when I am comparing 2 images the comparison is completely blue. Then when I click on Ignore Unimportant Differences the comparison changes to gray scale.

My second question is "For picture comparison, is Ignore Unimportant Differences the same as saying treat similar pixels as the same?"

Thanks,
Reza

Hello,

The Tolerance value determines if a pixel difference should be similar or different. If it is within the Tolerance, then it is similar. This is set in the Session Settings->Comparison tab, or on the toolbar.

The Ignore Unimportant Toggle will take similar/Unimportant differences and hide them as if they were equal. This way you can quickly hide from view Unimportant/Blue differences, and focus on only the Important Differences.

Does that help clear things up?
