ZIP - File not found in archive

It's been a while but this has worked before. I use Second Copy to create ~100Mb .zip files that represent snapshots in time. Now when I try to compare these files I just get the File not found in archive message.

The tree/files are displayed and the expected results of a quick compare appear. Choosing any of the files in the list results in the same message.

The .zip files contain about 17k individual files.

The .zip files pass Total Commander and WinZip tests.

I installed BC 2.5.3 and it works as expected.

Hi Ron,

Are there extended characters (á, ö, etc) in the filenames? We changed zip libraries in 3.1 (to add support for 64-bit and AES encryption) and it ended up changing the way filenames with extended characters are handled. I'm currently working on restoring the previous behavior. CRC or rules-based comparisons would work in spite of that because we don't have to extract the files to get their CRCs.

Possibly, I'm not familiar with all the files in the archive. Is there a way to search for these extended names? Also, why would that affect the entire archive?

FYI, I copied the two archives to another machine, installed 3.0.15, and it worked. So what you describe may be the problem.

It shouldn't affect the entire archive unless the extended characters are in a path that all of the files share. Can you https://download http://www.scooters...ipStripper.exe, run it on the file and send us a copy of the new file that's produced (<filename>.stripped.zip)? It will have all of the filenames/metadata, but none of the file content.

It's certainly not obvious, but you can right-click the version info in the About dialog and copy it to the clipboard.
