Default ClearCase remote client

Hi,

Do you know if CCRC is supported or not? I am afraid that there is not possible to use instructions as for normal client changing a map file.

Thank you.

I don't think the ClearCase Remote Client is supported by the current version of Beyond Compare. Support for CCRC is on our todo list.

The latest release (3.0.7) supports the remote client. You need to replace the ccrc_cleardiff.exe and ccrc_cleardiffmrg.exe files with copies of bcomp.exe.

This does not appear to be working properly. When the BC3 windows comes up it shows essentially the 3-way merge screen, but the only pane that has something display is the center pane. All the other panes show Error.

CCRC Version: 7.0.1.D061004
BC Version: 3.0.8.9206

Any suggestions on what I missed or should check?

Grab a copy of the command line that BC gets using Process Explorer, and send that and a screenshot of the viewer to support@scootersoftware.com. I've been trying to fix this for a few releases now, but I don't have a way to test my changes.

If you're able to provide reasonably fast turnaround, I can try sending you a build with some additional logging that might help track down the problem too.

For anyone monitoring this thread, ClearCase Remote Client support was added in Beyond Compare 3.0.9.

Instructions for using Beyond Compare 3.0.9 or newer with ClearCase Remote Client are now posted on the Using Beyond Compare with Version Control Systems page.

Unfortunately the same issue (BC3 windows come up it shows essentially the 3-way merge screen, but the only pane that has something display is the center pane. All the other panes show Error) is happening again on Linux (Ubuntu 9.04), any workarounds ?

CCRC Version: 7.0.1.D090225
BC Version: 3.1.3.10374

NOTE: I have already followed the instructions on the Using Beyond Compare with Version Control Systems page and additionally copied in libqtc.so.1 which also appeared required

Hi Dave,

We don't have access to ClearCase systems (remote or otherwise), so debugging these issues is complicated. On the Linux side, I think you could probably use symlinks instead of separate copies of the bcompare (bash) file. Also, the remote client support currently relies on the "exe"'s filename starting with "ccrc_" and ending with "diffmrg", like "ccrccleardiffmrg.exe" or "ccrc_xmldiffmrg.exe". Is that the case on Linux?

Its ok, we worked around the issue by writing a wrapper script to pass the correct parameters to Beyond Compare in the right order.. as it appears that the order of the parameters had changed..
