One folder (development) has _vti_cnf all over the place. The other folder (production) doesn't.
Is there a way to tell Beyond Compare to always (always ALWAYS) ignore and never ever ever pay attention to _vti_cnf folders? Don't count them as orphans. Don't compare their contents. Pretend they are socially awkward and complete ignore their very existence? Thanks! |

Yup. We have File Name filters (in the toolbar or in the Folder Compare's Session menu -> Session Settings, Name Filters tab). Here you can define a filter that matches on the folder name in the Exclude Folders section (which will then auto-populate the toolbar when you click Ok).
How does this work for you?

Yes yes! This is exactly it. And there's also room for thumbs.db!

Just as additional information: Often, thumbs.db will already be excluded because we exclude protected operating system files by default. This is controlled in the Session menu -> Session Settings, Other Filters, DOS Attributes, and "exclude protected operating system files" is enabled by default.
