I'm testing BC3 3.0.11 (Build 9510) on Ubuntu 8.04 on a dual core 2.66GHz 386 with a nvida card, Xgl and no desktop effects.
The GUI of BC3 is realy slow. Each interaction leads to visibile delay with step by step GUI refreshes. Further investigation shows Xgl uses all available CPU resources when BC3 GUI refreshes. Is a slow GUI under linux a known problem? I didn't found a post regarding this in the forum. |

No, it isn't a known issue. However, I don't think we've tested on a system using XGL yet.

It seems to be a bug related to the combination of Qt and Xgl. Other Qt applications show the same problems, but i haven't noticed until now because they have simpler GUIs.
Disabling Xgl by creating a $HOME/.config/xserver-xgl/disable file has resolved the problem. Now that BC is fast and usable under Linux I'm realy considering upgrading my BC2 licence. I haven't found any other good compare program for Linux where I didn't miss some functionality I know from BC. |
