Delay closing File Viewer Window

I'm generally happy and impressed by v2 but I've encountered a problem not in v1. Every once in awhile, the program seems to freeze for a minute or two when I am closing a File Compare window. This makes it very frustrating to check the differences in several files.
I'm not sure how often it happens: perhaps once every 30 files?
I'm running v2.1.2 on XP. I press the ESC key to close the File Compare window.
Any suggestions?

A couple of questions:

Are the files on a local drive or a network drive?

Are you launching file viewer using the right click shell extension, or from the folder viewer?

What type of files are you comparing? How large are they?

The files are local.
I'm launching from the folder view.
The files are plain text (with various extensions such as TAB and PRC).
The files are all around 1-20 KB.

Are you running anti virus software with real time protection turned on? If you are, see if the freezes happen when real time protection is turned off. Also, what comparison criteria are you using?
