View Full Version : File Viewer doesn't detect moved sections

Really need to have the file viewer detect moved sections. (This is especially necessary when comparing syntax highlighting files which are several hundred/thousand lines long, each line consisting of a keyword.) Compare It! nicely highlights the beginning of such lines, and even WinDiff detects and flages 'em -- so I know it's possible.

It'd also be nice, but certainly not critical, for the thumbnail view to be split into right and left sections with the moved sections linked by lines.

Ken

Thanks for the suggestion. We will add it to our Wishlist for future versions.

How about this wish?
I'm still waiting some powerful compare&merge tools that can detect moved sections, like it make in old simple WinDiff :(

Moved sections can be displayed in BC comparation window in this way: in the file toolbar must be toggle-button for special mode "Move back moved sections", and in this mode detected sections visually (virtually) rearrange in toggled to this mode file to places, similar to places of this sections in opposite file. This mode will allow compare and merge content of the moved sections.

Nashev,

Thanks for the suggestion. This still isn't possible in the current version of Beyond Compare, but it is a feature we'd like to support in the future.

It would be great to see this feature in Beyond Compare.
I hope you add it :)
