View Full Version : FTP - Initial Connection Failure on (Slow Sites)

I have noticed that on slow FTP sites, or when there is high network latency between myself and that site, I will frequently get an error, "Folder Not Available". However if I just hit "Retry" it goes right in. Is this a timeout issue on the initial login script? Is there a way to control this so my scripted BC sessions don't fail when they encounter this?

You can try modifying the "Read Timeout" setting in the FTP options (Tools|Options|FTP). Either increase it or set it to 0 (disabled).

Yes, the read timeout is currently set to zero when I get this error. I have also tried other values. Although this error occurs almost immediately when the connection to the FTP is made. When using the GUI the error comes up with a second or so of connecting to the FTP site. Then if I hit "retry" it just goes right in and connects.

I just timed it, it is about 5 seconds before this error comes up, but hitting retry immediately connects.
I have also noticed that this FTP site seems to 'hang' BC2. After anywhere between 15-60 minutes BC2 just locks up and has to be killed using the task manager. If you try and run it again, the file it hung on gives the following error when trying to copy: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. (This is AFTER the original BC2.exe is killed)
