View Full Version : BC trying to copy desktop.ini
Guys .. I don't remember this happening in the past, but I had to totally rebuild my server. I run a nightly job that sync's up 'My Documents' onto an external disk (This disk is new .. a WD 120gb firewire/usb 2.0 combo drive). I am now receving a Win popup saying that copying desktop.ini is dangerous .. press yes or no..
Why is BC trying to copy this file? I thought possibly that I enabled 'show hidden files' in WinXP, but I unchecked that yesterday and I'm still getting the prompts.
Thanks
Well .. Blow me away .. I found the filter command and 'filter -desktop.ini' works ;-) Anyone know why I need to do this?
Thanks again

BC does not use Explorer's "Show Hidden and System" option. If you don't want sync them check the "Hidden" and "System" checkboxes in the "Exclude files that are" section of the Filters dialog.
Craig .. How do you perform this from a script? I tried:
sync visible create-empty mirror:lt->rt
But still got prompted .. I used:
option confirm:no-to-all
to get around it ... Am I making a big deal about this? Does it really matter if desktop.ini gets copied?
Thanks
Craig

You could use filter -sh, but it's not really worth worrying about, and I'd actually recommend using yes-to-all for confirmations. I grabbed the warning about overwriting system files directly from Explorer, but in this case it shouldn't hurt anything to overwrite it.
