View Full Version : Suggestion: Filter on Content

20-Jan-2004, 06:59 AM
Sometimes it would be helpfull to me, if i can filter on content.
For example i have two sets of source file. One for release, another alpha or beta for the next major release. From time to time i find an error in the old release, fix and mark them.
To move the fixes to the new alpha version, it would be nice i can filter on the mark.
(however the compare will be slow)

I think this is a good suggestion. As a workaround in the meantime, Total Commander (http://www.ghisler.com), the other indispensible utility, permits one to create a list of files containing a specified string or regex. You could easily copy these files to a temporary folder and then use BC to work its magic on them.

Is this in yet, it was made 8 months ago, and I can always be hopeful? It is an excellent suggestion and just what I need right now.

Must say that BC is amazing. I still marvel at all the functionality (eg all the different comparison reports - the HTML formats are so cool to send to my boss).

This is one of only 2 utilities that I have bought for myself (as opposed to work buying them), the other is UltraEdit!

The suggestion for content filtering is still on the wish list, but I can't say when we'll have time to work on it. Our development team is pretty small, so it takes time to implement all of the great suggestions that we receive for BC.

We're glad to hear that BC works so well for you.
