View Full Version : Suggestion: Virtual Folder vs Portable Device

I have three folders on my work hard drive that I keep copies at home. I've been using a USB memory stick as transport media. Before I leave work, I run BC, sync the folders to the stick. Go home, do the reverse.

Unfortunately, the folders are in different places so I've been using one session for each folder. So I actually have to sync 3 sessions at work, then 3 sessions at home.

It would be great if we can somehow define virtual folders for BC. Say on the left is a virtual folder pointing to:

C:\Documents and Settings\Alan\My Documents
C:\My Bin
D:\WorkArea

than the right side points to my memroy stick with:

\Documents and Settings\Alan\My Documents
\My Bin
\WorkArea

Or can this be done currently and I'm just too blind to see it?

It's on the todo list, but not possible in the current release. If you're using the automatic syncs you could set it up as a set of scripts.

I use BC in exactly the same way as Alan so I want to endorse his suggestion. Very pleased to see it is on the to-do list. Both BC and USB memory sticks have made life so much easier.

BTW, thanks for having these forums (fora ?). I am picking up a lot of good ideas here. Using the FTP facility to manage web sites is going to be particularly useful.
