Hello Chris

It has been awhile, but BC still remains the tool of choice for comparisons !

Three questions:

1. USB file comparisons, if you remove the USB disk, BC will compare the files
that compared 'differently' now as the 'same'. If you do a refresh the screen
now shows no files. I think in both cases it should show "Disk not found" ?

2. Is multiple file comparison now available ?

3. Our current version is V2.5.1, should we upgrade ?

Thanks
Don

P.S. When creating threads is a spell checker available during the Preview Post ?

1. You can update to BC2.5.3 for free here:
http://www.scootersoftware.com/download.php?zz=dl2_en
You can install the trial of BC3 without uninstall BC3. They install to separate directories and store separate settings. Please retry your test with BC3 here:
http://www.scootersoftware.com/download.php

What type of comparison are you running in your Session menu -> Comparison Criteria ?

2. We have a Text Compare session (BC3 Std; 2 files) and a Text Merge session (BC3 Pro; 3 input files and 1 output file).

http://www.scootersoftware.com/moreinfo.php?zz=screenshot&shot=TextMerge

Is this what you are looking for?

3. You should update to at least BC 2.5.3 (our latest BC2 release). I would recommend also installing the trial of BC3 to test it out. You do not need to uninstall BC2 to test out BC3. You can try out BC3 while still using BC2 for day to day work.

The spell checker activates as you type in the submission box. I do not know of one that would check the Preview Post "Preview" section from the Advanced submission page.

Hello,

Thanks for the screenshot, that helped clarify your steps. I tested earlier in the Directory Viewer, but it looks like you are using the File Viewer.

The issue there is BC2 will initially show an error dialog declaring there was an issue loading the files, but returns a "blank" file as the error state. If both files are blank, then they detect as equal.

We improved this in BC3 by having an Error State in conjunction with Equal or Unequal.
