View Full Version : Satellite Internet causing problems?
Until recently, I had a cable connection and was not experiencing any problems. In fact, I think this is a cool software. Thank you. However I started getting problems since I moved and had to get satellite Internet.
Stuff like: OR and T errors, deleting instead of copying, "Program Not responding", the connection drops, etc....
I wonder if you've had any experience with this? Is there a better configuration I can make?
BTW, the speeds on Satellite are way slower than cable, especially on the upload.... (With Direcway)
Cheers!

My fault, my browser was not accepting cookies! I have "allowed" your site in my preferences and now all is fine!

If you're using an older release upgrade to at least 2.0.3 build 183, and it'd probably be worth trying 2.1 too. Older versions delete the destination file if the copy fails, so it should help there. 2.1 also has some improvements in timeout handling. Both versions also have a "Auto reconnect" setting in the FTP Options that should help with the dropped connection.
We've had 2 people mention problems with commands dropping characters (eg, ORT rather that PORT), but as far as I can tell we're doing everything we should be. Try another FTP client like CuteFTP or FTP Voyager and see if they run into that problem too.
Other than that there's not a whole lot to do. BC2's FTP support doesn't handle flaky connections very well, and it's something we hope to improve in future releases.

I upgraded to 183 recently and it has seem to improve slightly, however I'm still getting weird stuff happening. It's just not as it used to be :(
I'll try 2.1
I'f my memory serves me right, I think SmartFTP is working ok. Although I hardly use it anymore since I got BC!
