I would like to ignore hidden directories

We use Subversion so it is useful to ignore .svn directories, will BC3 do this?

Ditto, I would like to ignore directories of object files, i.e. named directories that are not hidden.

Which aspect of our filtering in BC3 is different and giving you trouble? You can access the Filter dialog from the glasses/filter icon and put in .svn for an excluded folder name. Same with your "object files."

You should even be able to paste your Filter command line (the generated text line) from BC2 into BC3. Does this work for you?
