Dear Sir,
Sometimes, we update/copy files from left to right and sometimes from right to left.
The graphic in the status (the thermometer), only advances from left to right . it will be nice to have this status display advance from right to left in the situations when files are being copied from right to left.
Further, in BC2 if multiple files were being copied/updated, we had status display for individual file as well as total of all the files, now we seem to have status for only the total of all the files, you may please want to have a look into it.

Thanks for the suggestions.
The progress bar we're using is a prebuilt component that doesn't support advancing from the other direction. Changing this would require development of a custom component so we will not change the behavior.

Hello Chris,
It might be possible to just rotate/flip the existing component 180 degrees at run-time if needed, and it might serve the purpose.

Hello Scooter Software
Thanks for the upcoming new version of BC3. Continuing with the request for status display while Copy/Updating to left; if it is not possible to have the progress bar showing right to left. you may please consider displaying the small icons alongside the Progress_Bar (the same icons like Actions > Synchronize > Various options) so that the purpose to be aware what is happening is served. Can you please consider providing a toolbar button for "Exclude" also.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll add your notes to our Customer Wishlist entry dealing with user feedback. While we cannot flip the bar like you suggest, there may be another way to help indicate which files are going from which origin side to the other.
For Exclude, we have quick access in the right click menu and it can have a keyboard shortcut assigned to it in the Tools menu -> Customize commands. You can also use the toolbar to access the entire Filters dialog and manually edit filters this way. If these methods do not meet your needs, would you mind going into more detail on how you are using filters? By design, you should not need to edit them very often; you can save specific filters to a session, or to the Filter Dropdown presets list (in the Tools menu -> Options -> Folder Views section).

Hello Aaron,
It will be nice to have something to help indicate which files are going from which origin side to the other.
Regarding, the toolbar icon for Exclude, I generally use BeyondCompare as a Backup tool. In some folders some temporary files of various nature keep getting added, that I do not want to include into backup and for which I later take decision/action manually. The files and folder that are to be generally excluded are already saved in sessions. For these diverse files right now I individually select the files > rightclick > Exclude. If there was option for EXCLUDE in toolbar the routine will be select the files > Exclude. So, you see I wanted to save one manual step.
Thanks again for the nice software.

Thanks for the suggestions.
As a workaround for quicker Exclude access, you can assign a keyboard shortcut to it by opening the Folder Compare, going to the Tools menu -> Customize Commands, and searching for Exclude.

Thanks for the ideas........... there may be another way to help indicate which files are going from which origin side to the other.
Hello Aaron,
Thanks for the new beta version; It will be nice if you please look into ways to help indicate which files are going from which origin side to the other. or what is happenning (including delete, move etc.)
I find Beyond Compare very useful for maintaining backups and it will give confidence to maintainance routines if we are aware what is happening. Display of Small icons (on the right of status bar) similar to the icons for the particular actions might serve my purpose. Or you might implement it in even better way.

Hello,
We have icons very similar to those described in our Folder Sync session type. This session type offers a sub-selection of tools from the Folder Compare, to make syncing easier and to easily see what is being synced. The only disadvantage of using the Sync session type is that it only supports syncing the whole of the base folders, and not a selection.
How does the Sync session type work for you? You can convert a Compare session into a Sync session by opening it, and then going to the Session menu -> Sync base folders.

Aaron,
Thanks for your reply. Functionality of the program is great. It is just the visual display of what is happening, where I am looking for a bit of enhancement. As I said I use BC for backup maintenance purposes and find it GREAT. However, it is possible that by my mistake, I might give command to the program to copy files from Backup to original where I may actually want to have the reverse done. Since the status bar updates from Left to Right only, I may get to know it too late, the mess I have created.
If an icon was visible just along side the status bar, I will know if update is happening from left to right or other way around. I have attached some sample images. One of the icon from "what is happening" could be place just right of the status bar and the user will know what is happening. For example "syncing left to right" will tell that some file are being synced from left to right; while "syncing right to left" will tell that some file are being synced from right to left.
