Since moving from version 3.0.15 to version 3.1 of Beyond Compare Pro I have noticed a serious usability problem. The components of the main screen do not resize for smaller screens, so the control buttons below the Description field on the sessions screen are not visible. This is on a notebook running Debian Lenny with 1024x768 resolution. If I drag the window the buttons are still cut off at the bottom because I can't resize the window to a size larger than 1024x768.

I'll do that as soon as I can. I was experimenting with that laptop today and blew away the OS on it during a recovery test. I should be able to reinstall and get the screenshots for you folks within a day or so.

In addition to the aforementioned issue with the new release not showing all control buttons on a 1024x768 screen under Debian 5.00 (lenny / gnome) I discovered yet another problem.
I had to reconfigure the laptop involved yesterday. After a fresh installation of the OS I installed BC 3.1. I tried to import the settings I had saved yesterday into the new installation. The import function failed stating that the file was not a supported format.
I removed version 3.1 and replaced it with 3.0.15. That version also would not import the settings saved yesterday, but it would import old settings files.
I have done some testing, and I have learned that:
Neither 3.0.15 nor 3.1 can import settings files saved by 3.1.
Both 3.0.15 and 3.1 can import settings files saved by 3.0.15.
So, there seems to be a problem with the way 3.1 saves settings files.
For now I'm reverting to use of 3.0.15 because this is a system that I use to help me maintain precise synchronization between two laptops -- so that if one laptop fails, I can just pick up the other one and work with it. Mission critical stuff.
If I get some time later on, I'll try to reinstall 3.1 to get a screen capture to send to the support e-mail address.

I really appreciate the responsiveness of the folks at Scooter Software.
Craig got back to me with a suggestion that I install the qt3-config package and adjust the font size used by BC3, which is itself a QT3 application. It worked fine, and my little 1024x768 notebook display now shows me the whole BC3 GUI on my Gnome desktop.
Craig also said that a fix for the settings issue I encountered is coming soon, and that they can help folks who have settings files they can't read with some tweaks.
That's what I call support, and I'm grateful for it.
