Is my understanding correct that with BC3 Standard it is not possible to connect via SFTP to a server? This is only possible with the Pro Edition.

Is there a "workaround" to connect with BC3 Standard via SFTP to a server?

Thanks for any advice.

Stefan

Yes, BC3 Pro supports SFTP and Standard does not. You can use the same workarounds that were available for BC2: http://www.scootersoftware.com/support.php?zz=kb_ssh.php

We aren't actively supporting that solution in BC3 though, and aren't going to update the instructions for it, so you'll need to figure out any changes you need to make yourself.

Have you considered adding SFTP to BC3 Standard? Notre Dame requires SFTP to upload student webpages - see
http://oit.nd.edu/web/personal.shtml

I assume that other colleges are also moving to SFTP. Perhaps SFTP is becoming routine, rather than an advanced tool to be used only in a corporate environment.

Our version 3 separation into Standard and Pro is to allow for new and premium features like SFTP to be included and covered by the cost of the software, while still having a version available for the low BC2 price of $30 (single-user price) for our users who do not need some of those features.

We offer a very generous upgrade policy if you already have a license for BC2, and that upgrade credit can be applied to a BC3 Std or Pro order.
