Feature request: Split view

I just had a situation I missed a 'split view' functionality during text compare mode.

Usually available in text editors to be activated by dragging little horizontal bar at upper end of scroll bar downward.

Is there a chance to add this functionality? If so, then I would appriciate if it would also available in 3-way-merge mode and hex-views.

Text editors enjoy the luxury of not needing to keep multiple files in sync with each other. Considering that BC3 has to keep 4 panes in sync during a merge operation, supporting a split view control seems to be an unrealistic expectation. BC3 would then have to keep 8 panes in sync instead of 4. What a nightmare.

That's a pity.

Since I'm working daily with BC for years now and I just missed this feature one time I admit it's not so important.

(Always trying to get a great tool even greater!)

Thanks for the idea, Alex. Michael has a good point in that it would complicate the view quite a bit and is not something we would be able to fit into our current interface anytime soon.

Let us know if you have any other ideas/suggestions, or questions.
