View Full Version : What means dark light gray? Color Legend is no help.

I compare 2 .bccs files (by size and CRC) and there are black files, red files AND LIGHT DARK GREY files.
The color legend shows no explanation for "dark light gray files" and the files neither show "=" nor "unequal".
The files have the same size and date.
When I set to "Compare by size alone" these files vanish. THus I conclude it must be some CRC difference, but why doesn't it show "unequal" then?
Any help?

It means that those settings are disabled and cannot be configured because they are out of context with your current configuration. In other words, you can only set a timestamp tolerance if you have checked the "Compare timestamps" checkbox.

Actually in this instance it means the files haven't compared yet, though if they're both bcss files I don't know why that would be. The only thing I can think of is that maybe it wasn't able to generate CRCs for the original files. Send a copy of both files and the zip produced by the Help->Support menu item to support@scootersoftware.com and we'll look into it.

I think it's a bug. When I try to create a .bcss with CRC information then these files (= the files that will later display light as dark gray files) are skipped and their CRC isn't calculated.
It's not a security attributes issue. All files are accessible and readable by windows.
"Compare contents" works. Just the creation of CRCs doesn't work.

OK, I have emailed you now 2 .bcss files and the BC_support.zip

Looks like you're right. In one of your snapshots it has calculated the CRCs correctly and in one it's returning FFFFFFFF. Did you save one with BC2 and one with BC3?

Oops. :) I missed the gray in the folder compare session because my focus was on the modal Session Settings dialog in the screenshot. I am glad the the scooter team reads this forum more thoroghly than I do... ;)

No, both are done with BC 2. One is 2.4.1 and the other 2.3 though. May this be the reason?

Yep, that's it. 2.3.1 fixed CRC calculations for files larger than 2GB.

Yup, works like a charm now!
