Hi!

I can reproduce a problem in build 450 (it appeared in earlier builds, too) when comparing a pair of files when one of them is in a *.tar.gz archive:

Background:
Whenever there is a new Cirrus release for Linux I get it via the Check For Updates function. As the result a file called BC3Update.tar.gz is saved to my KDE-Desktop. Then I extract the archive content to my $HOME directory, so it looks like this:

/home/user/cirrus-3.0.0.444/
/home/user/cirrus-3.0.0.445/
/home/user/cirrus-3.0.0.446/
/home/user/cirrus-3.0.0.447/
/home/user/cirrus-3.0.0.448/
/home/user/cirrus-3.0.0.449/
/home/user/cirrus-3.0.0.450/
/home/user/Desktop/BC3Update.tar.gz

Since I'm a curious Cirrus enthusiast, I always want to know, what has changed considering the last archive.
In order to see this I open the folder cirrus-3.0.0.449 on the left side of a folder-compare and BC3Update.tar.gz on the right side with Binary comparison turned on.

But the copmare doesn't succeed completely. A message is shown in the log pane:

06.04.2008 10:04:02 Load comparison: /home/user/cirrus-3.0.0.449 <-> /home/user/Desktop/BC3Update.tar.gz/cirrus-3.0.0.450
06.04.2008 10:04:02 Cannot open file "/tmp/RhOAWf". File or Directory not found
Obviously there are problems while extracting and reading libqtc.so.1 since it is the only file with no result icon in the middle of the two panes.
Comparing the extracted folders of the former releases shows no problem, but as soon as a compressed archive is involved, errors are reported. Even when I double-click on the libqtc.so.1 the hexviewer aborts with an error.

I hope someone can reproduce this ...

Bye

I can reproduce this, I am currently still investigating the source of the error.

This has been fixed, it will be in the next release (454).
