can we get a undo feature, especially for remote hard drives.
I accidentally deleted a folder from a remote hard drive via Beyond Compare. I hoped the deleted folder would be in the Recycle Bin of that PC. But nope.
This has caused catastropic effects...

That would be a very nice feature, but difficult to implement. Windows does not use the Recycle Bin on remote drives, which is why our checkbox option is "Use Recycle Bin if possible"
If you had deleted that remote folder with My Computer, then it would also have not appeared in your recycle bin.
There may be 3rd party apps to expand on the Recycle Bin's default behavior. You could also set up a nightly BC script for backing up your files. Example scripts can be found in the Help file under the Command Line and Scripting section.

Cool. How about a toggle to make one window-pane read-only? So I can make the right-window-pane (which is the remote folder) read-only.

Go up to Session -> Session Manager and check the Read-only box under the Right Base Path. Then Use Untitled (a temporary session), or save it as a full fledged Session that can be easily loaded later.
