Opening image files

I am trying the evaluation copy of BC, downloaded yesterday.

The image viewer opens image files in notebook, so they are presented as ASCII files, which is of no help to me. Do I need a plug-in to enable me to open image files with my image editing program? I understand that plug-ins are only available with registered copies, so I cannot try out this facility.

Plug-in support does require a key. It is the one feature disabled in the trial mode.
