View Full Version : Prevent history path auto-loading in Folder Viewer

Hi,

In File Viewer, when after you manually changed the path(s) in the path bar, File Viewer won't load the new file(s) in until you click Go button or press Enter key.

This is nice.

But in Folder Viewer, when selecting a history path from the dropdown list, Folder Viewer will immediately load the path and start compare.

Is there a way to prevent this auto-loading? If no, This is a suggestion.

B2C,

It isn't possible to prevent auto loading when selecting a path from the MRU dropdown in the Folder Viewer.

I'll pass on this suggestion to our developers.

You can type into the folder view address boxes, and press Enter after doing both sides. This will delay the auto-load refresh and comparison until you have changed both sides.

I know that. But typing is less convenient.

I meant the history or the MRU dropdown.

I think this is a major security/privacy problem. Until it is fixed (i.e. it is possible to delete the history/MRU list) it can be done by creating a small text file with this contents:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Scooter Software\Beyond Compare\Recent\Files]

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Scooter Software\Beyond Compare\Recent\Folders]

and save it e.g. as BC2Delete.reg

Double clicking the file and clicking OK will delete the stored history.

You can set the MRUSize tweak to 0 to disable it.
