I just got an idea for a new feature. Recently I had to fix many sporadic files in many folders that were the wrong case. This is a common mistake made by windows users and it matters when the files will be uploaded to a Unix site.

Well, if Beyond Compare had another option - something that would line up file names that are the same except for case, but would mark the files as not matching.
And the row could be a different color indicating the problem is a case difference

Also, if the "Filters by Name" could be case-sensitive.

And one more. When copying files, an option to make sure the case is updated on the copy. Windows won't update the file case when copying "text.txt" over the top of "Text.txt"

PS. Beyond Compare is one of my two most favorite utilities. The other is "Search and Replace" by funduc. Between the two of them, I probably save myself 8 hours a week.

BC does have some filename case features. In the FTP section of Tools|Options, you can select "lower case" or "UPPER CASE" Filename Conversion to automatically change the filenames when you upload them to a Unix system.

BC's other filename case feature is "Case sensitive filenames" in the Advanced tab of Session|Comparison Control.

I'll add your suggestions to our wish list.

thanks.
I didn't notice the ftp specific feature but I did find the other one.

Maybe the ui for one of mine would be to add a sub checkbox under "Case sensitive filenames" that says something like "Show as case difference instead of no match". And make it on by default if "Case sensitive filenames" is checked.

There, that's the easy part. :) Luckily its not a "Read my mind" checkbox!
