My log stated:
<...>
2008-01-30 11:07:43 Fast refresh
2008-01-30 11:08:30 The directory name is invalid
2008-01-30 11:08:30 The directory name is invalid
2008-01-30 11:08:31 The directory name is invalid
2008-01-30 11:08:38 The directory name is invalid
2008-01-30 11:08:39 The directory name is invalid
<...>

Maybe it should also state which directory it is that's considered invalid?

Are you seeing this with a drive or an SFTP connection?

With a drive...

Found the cause of this now:

When I use notepad++.exe %f in Open With, and tries to exec it in a diff view, nothing happens (I thought it was in PATH). When I then go back to the folder session I see
2008-02-01 07:48:25 The system cannot find the file specified
in log. When I use working folder with quotes e.g. "C:\program files(x86)\notepad++\", I get below in log
2008-02-01 07:44:49 The directory name is invalid.

Behavior is fair enough but it's a bit confusing that these errors won't show until I actually close the diff tab and goes back to the folder compare session and then starts to scratch my head.

The next release will have this fixed. The error message will specifically say it's an Open With failure, and it will show the error in a dialog if it's run from a file viewer.
