View Full Version : Compact thumbnail view

Hello,

great tool - we are a team of licensed users and we are much enjoying BC2. I have a question/suggestion: is it possible to configure the thumbnail view so it does not use a scroll bar? We would like to see the entire content (which means, all differences) instantly, without having to scroll around.

I am aware that maybe currently, one pixel in the view always relates to one line of source code. It would be necessary to "compress" the content using some adequate method. However, we feel that the ability to see all of the thumbnailed content in one part would more than justify a certain degree of fuzziness here.

Or, is such an option already present? I would be thankful for any comments or hints.

Greetings
Stefan

This isn't available in our current release, but version 3 of Beyond Compare will have the ability to scale the thumbnail view to avoid scrolling.

Any ETA about when this version 3 will be released ?

Is it not possible to get a 2.52 version of BC with just this small addition option 'Fit thumbnail view to window size' ?
I'm using BC as my merge/diff tool with Perforce, and some of the files are humongously long, having to scroll down to see if something changed is error prone.

Thanks in advance.

Why not use the "next difference" and "previous difference" arrow buttons? That will get around any problem of missing differences by scrolling manually, if nothing else.

Version 3 is currently scheduled for near the end of the year/beginning of 08.

BC3 was built on its own, and while it can use some of the code from BC2, not all of the concepts can be taken from one and plugged into the other. We are currently in private beta testing of BC3, with a public beta test in the future (no firm date yet).
