I am trying to connect to the International Earth Rotation Service (IERS) FTP site (http://ftp://tai.bipm.org/iers/conv2003). Unfortunately, I cannot do so with BC2, either with Build 227 or with Build 229. An initial connection to the site is made, and BC2 hangs up after a LIST command is sent to the site. I am able to connect to this site using IE6 or Firefox 1.0.2.

The problem with this FTP site is that it reqires "passive" FTP, which Beyond Compare does not (yet) support. An FTP client that supports passive FTP is NcFTP (http://www.ncftpd.com/ncftp/).

I You go to
Tools --> Options --> FTP --> Firewall / Proxy
there is an entry that says
Passive Mode
This should let You use B.C. with these sites.

Thanks, Rodolfo! It's working fine now. It would be nice if BC2 would automatically detect when passive FTP is required, as NcFTP does.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll add it to our wish list for a future version of BC.
