View Full Version : "Canvas does not allow drawing" ???
When previewing the differences report I get a dialog box stating "Canvas does not allow drawing". Beyond Compare then crashes and I get in this endless loop between "Runtime error 216 at 690060D2" and "The instruction at 0x690060d2 ... The memory could not be read".
I'm using version 227 on win2k. Has anybody experienced this and found a cure?

This isn't an error that I've seen before.
How large are the files that you're comparing?
What type of files are they?
Are your OS patches and device drivers all up to date?
Got the same error comparing XML files.

Did you get the error in a Print Preview?
What OS are you running?
Do you get the error consistently?
Is it only with certain files, or with all files?

My problem apparently was tied to changing my default printer. When my regular printer came back from the shop I stopped getting the error in Beyond Compare. Both printers are the same model (HP Laserjet 400 Series PCL 6) and I assume the same drivers get installed. The problem is repeatable. Since I'm back to my old printer I have a workaround for this problem. By the way, the problem occurred regardless of file size.
This error may be related one of 2 things.
1. The Delphi compiler. We experience a similar error from time to time in our app that we build.
2. The PCL6 driver. Switch to a PCL5 with the same printer.
