Hi there!

I love Beyond Compare - great product!

One thing that I am confused about though is whether in Build 227 of BC I can compare 2 tab-delimited files while using the first column (10 characters in length) as the key to match lines in each file? I've been playing with rules (alignment, etc.) and can't seem to get it to work just right. A few posts on the forum seem to indicate that this may be doable.

Can you help set me straight?

Thanks again!

The only way to get File Viewer to match on only the first 10 characters is to mark the other characters as unimportant.

The data-viewer plug-in is better suited to sorting and comparing tab delimited files. The data-viewer allows you to select columns as key columns that should be sorted before the comparison. It does require a registered version of BC to run. You can download the data-viewer from: http://www.scootersoftware.com/download.php?c=v2plugins

Thanks for the lightning-fast response! I've registered BC so I'll hop over and get the tool. Thanks again!
